How do I get involved?
To learn more about this adventure, there’s a few options!
Matthew and Stella are happy to pop out to visit you at your local gym if you’d like to learn more. We attend a gym South Melbourne ourselves, but happy to meet anywhere.
Can’t climb Kilimanjaro but want to join in?
If you can’t get to Kilimanjaro but want to participate or just have fun on a weekend, come along for our fortnightly training hikes – every second Sunday – at various locations around Victoria.
Why are we doing this?
Winds of Hope, run by UY South Melbourne gym enthusiasts Matthew & Stella, currently sponsors around 150 students in rural Uganda.
In many villages, up to 20% of primary school aged girls are unable to afford school fees, and miss out on critical education.
Their goal is to support 1,000 girls by the end of 2020 – ensuring they are able to attend primary school. We are also working towards constructing a dedicated Primary School to support the community as a whole.
Winds of Hope is an Australian-based NGO that provides healthcare and education programs in Uganda, Africa and neighboring countries, and is undertaking this adventure with the ultimate goal of raising funds to build its first Girls Primary School in rural Uganda.
How fundraising works
Each climber is asked to fundraise for this project through their friends and families.
